What is Family Documentary Photography?

Remember those candid, authentic, completely silly, and untamed moments from your childhood?

Family documentary photography celebrates all those moments.

The good, the quirky, and all the messes!

With images that go beyond the milestones, and tell the story behind those smiling faces in the picture frame.

A collection of photos that preserve those in-between-the-poses moments
and not just how you looked in cute matching clothes.

But how you felt
and how you loved each other.

Family documentary photography captures the beauty in your real, everyday life.

Whether that’s at home making dinner, doing glitter-filled craft projects, and playing in the backyard, or nap time cuddles, walking along the beach and digging in the sand.

It’s your unique story.  A visual diary of this chapter in your family’s life.

And the great thing about a family documentary session is
whatever happens happens.

No poses and no pressure. No fancy clothes.
No bribing your kids with extra screen time to smile for the camera.

Just you being you.
Living life and making memories.

That sounds amazing, but what if we’re too boring, or my kids/dogs won’t cooperate, or my house is too messy?

Believe me,

you’ll never be boring!

Your everyday routines, trips to the playground, grocery store and the dog park, cuddling on the couch reading stories, making cookies, riding bikes, water balloon or snow ball fights, singing and laughing, dogs barking, howling and chasing each other around the house, cheerio covered floors, dog toys strewn everywhere, and family vacations.

They’re all unique to you. It’s the stuff that helps make your life special, meaningful and fun.

I know the idea of having your real life photographed can sound a little scary.

But this isn’t a reality tv show and I promise I’m not bringing a camera crew. Just me with my cameras trying my best to blend into the wallpaper.

You can wear your pajamas or your best pair of rainy day hang-out pants. You can get dressed up, brush your hair and straighten up your house if you want to.

Or not.

It’s up to you.

It’s just a fun and relaxed day to capture those real-life memories of you and your family as it is now during this time in your life.
