DAY IN THE LIFE
Family PORTRAIT SESSIONS

A day in your life may be…

Waking up from nap time, playing games, reading stories, eating snacks, riding bikes, making breakfast, getting the kids dressed...

Your normal, daily routines are often times the ones you want to remember most.

They are the usually the memories that make you laugh, get a little teary and can take you back instantly to a period of time when you see them in on your wall or in an album more than those pretty posed family photos.

And they are an opportunity to create images that preserve a slice of your real life, just as it is right now — beautiful and messy, joyful, challenging and fun.

These everyday moments are the real story of your family and this special moment in time for you and your kids.

This 4 hour (approximately) documentary style photo session experience in your home will leave you grateful for bonding time with your loved ones along with a newfound love of getting family photos taken (who knew it could be so fun)! And of course beautiful and artistic images of your unique everyday world with your kids, your pets, your spouse or all of the above!

These sessions are usually scheduled during daylight hours and within a block of time centered around favorite family activities and daily routines you want to remember.

Whether that’s making pancakes or cookies, eating breakfast in your jammies, taking a walk in the neighborhood, bike riding, running through sprinklers or piles of leaves, water balloon fights and eating popsicles in the summer, playing outside, splashing in puddles, playing games, bath time, eating out at a restaurant, going to the grocery store, and even the occasional tantrum.

No fancy clothes. No poses and no pressure. Just you being you. Living life and making memories.

Day in the Life sessions are also perfect for capturing that special time with your newborn that goes so fast!

Do you have a newborn, and you want to capture all the adorable details of their new lives? Like those precious little toes and feet, their tiny hand holding your finger, the faces they make when they’re napping, the sweet way their new big brother or sister carefully holds them, their cute little laugh or smile, changing or feeding them in their beautiful nursery and so much more.

Think your family is too boring for this type of family portrait session?
I promise you you’re not!

You’ll be pleasantly surprised at the variety of images we’ll create that will tell a wonderful story of your family’s life.

Most of the time we do the Day in the Life session in and around your home, but in some cases, if you are planning a big family outing like a day at the beach or a trip to Niagara Falls, and you want to capture those moments, we can discuss doing that instead (some locations farther outside of the Rochester, NY area will require a travel fee).

I know it can feel weird at first to have a photographer hanging out in your house taking pictures of you, but you’ll be surprised how fast you get used to it and sometimes forget I’m there. I fit right in. It’s a very relaxed session and it’s definitely a lot of fun!

I think of myself as a family photojournalist documenting this amazing life you’ve created so I can tell aN Artistic and captivating story of your family through images.

The majority of the session will be natural, candid, and authentic images, but I always make time to get a couple of (loosely posed) family portraits if you would like.

Don’t let colder weather deter you from booking a session!

If you and your family normally spend time outside in the fall and winter, and you love bundling up and playing in the leaves, taking walks, going to the pumpkin, apple or Christmas tree farm, building snowmen and making snow angels, sledding, snowball fights, putting up Christmas decorations, drinking hot chocolate outside around backyard campfire - then that’s part of your life and I would love to preserve those memories for you!

We’re also living in an historic time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic…

which currently affects our daily life in different and unique ways, so let’s embrace this time in our lives. I am happy to photograph those routines or activities along with your normal ones as well! (like virtual school, socially-distanced outdoor play dates or family meals, mask wearing, pickup at school/school bus, porch parties, backyard campfires, etc.)

I’m currently offering Reduced Sessions, if needed, due to the pandemic. See below for more details.

A contract and retainer is required to book a session date.
CONTACT ME for more info or to book your session.

I can’t wait to hear more about you and your family!

PLEASE NOTE:

DUE TO THE Covid-19 PANDEMIC, during all sessions, I will be photographing almost exclusively outdoors. A very short amount of time photographing inside in addition to outside might be possible in certain circumstances.

Because the pandemic currently affects our daily life in different ways, I am very happy to embrace this historic time in our lives and photograph those routines or activities (like virtual school, socially-distanced outdoor play dates or family meals, mask wearing, pickup at school/school bus, porch parties, backyard campfires, etc.)

Most everything photographed outside or inside will be from a distance (I have several zoom lenses and creative ways to accomplish this)

I will be taking safety precautions including wearing a mask at all times, hand sanitizing and staying a distance apart.

If I am photographing inside for a short time, any person(s) inside at that time, who are not in the photo, will also need to wear a mask and keep a distance. Thanks!
